One voter told MSNBC, “We’re not big Trump fans. We have a lot of crazy good ideas, but we also have a lot of crazy ideas. I like Mr. Scott. We share the same faith.” He has a really rough road ahead of him: being black and a Republican.”
Another Republican voter from Iowa said, “I’ve spoken to Mike Pence a few times. I like Mike. He’s a good moderate conservative. A man of religious descent. did some great things.I like what he did when he was in office.I didn’t like the joke in the background.”
Republican lawmakers interviewed by MSNBC articulated some realities about the Republican Party. Because Tim Scott is black, he will struggle as a candidate. Second, the Republican Party has swayed so far to the right that Mike Pence could be considered a moderate.
Trump didn’t show up at Ernst’s Ride and Roast, so it’s no surprise that the audience consisted of Iowans looking for someone other than Trump.
But it’s Mr. Trump’s personality that makes these voters seem repulsive. It’s not a legal issue, criminal charges, or corruption.
Some Republicans are fed up with Trump’s personality and drama.
The more he campaigns, the more votes Trump may lose.
