The Republican Party is really weird and uncomfortable right now.
Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis launched his campaign Wednesday night on a Twitter space co-hosted with Elon Musk. Or rather, I tried to fire it. It didn’t work for 20 minutes with little talking, coughing and repeated crashes.
Musk just finished it when DeSantis and Musk’s announcement brought 680,000 listeners to the Twitter space. For 20 minutes there was almost no dialogue and repeated crashes. The app crashed at least 16 times while trying to listen. What an embarrassing disaster for both Mr. Musk and Mr. DeSantis. pic.twitter.com/zHIhv2QL0F

The space started out with 600,000 “listeners” (possibly bots), but after all the crashes it grew to about 300,000 by the time DeSantis’ launch actually began, with compatriots joining the media and It plummeted to 192,000 after complaining about the elite. And laughed at the various media calling them Nazis. Is there any campaign that doesn’t want a laugh at the Nazis at the beginning?
Jason Easley writes in our article: sub stack“Governor. Mr. DeSantis thought he could be a disruptor by announcing on Twitter, but the technology broke and the event sounded like a low-quality Nazi brothers podcast.”
Given the meme-worthy consequences of DeSantis’ video campaign-type appearances, DeSantis’ attempt to hide it in an audio-only format didn’t pan out.
We can’t make amends, but DeSantis’ Twitter announcement crashed due to a technical issue. His attempt to hide behind an audio-only platform was officially a punch line. pic.twitter.com/AwEUEe6gxS

Ben Collins thanked Elon Musk and reported that he had developed into a group of people who only complained about Twitter.
Ron DeSantis’ campaign announcement has evolved into nothing but people thanking Elon Musk and complaining about Twitter.

However, the reaction was fun.

Joe Biden’s non-presidential account also joined in the fun, tweeting:

As anyone who had noted Elon Musk’s poor management skills predicted, the launch was a success. Ron DeSantis may have thought he would look more human next to Elon, but as it turned out, no one else did, but instead he launched his own campaign. hid in the fan club of Elon’s tech buddies.
Donald Trump responded to the failure by ridiculing Ron DeSantis’ speech. Kim Jong-un calls it a ‘red button’ smaller than Trump’s (Do you really want to know?)
If this really is the best and brightest the Republican Party can offer, 2023 will surpass 2015 in the surreal depths we fell into.
