Rep. Bowman, former principal, said: Coward. They do nothing to save our children’s lives. They are crazy cowards. they have no guts. “
Rep. Thomas Massey (R-Kentucky) approached him and told Bowman that there had never been a shooting at a school where teachers were allowed to carry guns.
Bowman said, “Carring guns? More guns lead to more deaths. Look at the data. You’re not looking at the data. You’re carrying water for the gun lobby.” “
When Massey told Bowman to calm down, the New York legislator responded: 9 year old children are dead. The solution is not to arm teachers. Have you ever worked in a school? “
Bowman repeated the question several times and Massey walked away.
Bowman later told reporters that he had worked at the school for 20 years as a teacher and as a middle school principal.
Republicans are not accustomed to confronting or challenging gun lobby issues.
Democrats are changing the conversation about gun violence in schoolsThey no longer put up with the NRA’s issues.
