Rachel Maddow explained on MSNBC that she didn’t show Trump’s speech because she didn’t feel it was newsworthy and refused to broadcast the falsehood.

Mr Maddow said:
I have a little errand here, and then I’ll come to you. Now I need to tell you that the former president himself is speaking tonight from his home in Florida. Preparing, this is basically a campaign speech where he repeats the same thing.
So far he’s only provided a list of his usual complaints. We don’t think it’s necessarily newsworthy. This is the price, as a new organization, of knowing that we will be broadcasting something that is not true. More on that in a minute, but for now, please know that it is happening.
The newsworthy thing about Trump’s speech wasn’t what he said. Rachel Maddow was right. The speech itself was another attack on Trump’s enemies, which happened to include every prosecutor investigating or prosecuting him.
A newsworthy aspect of the speech was that so many networks regretted Trump giving him free airtime. Claiming to have won, the network dropped out within minutes of the start of his speech.
Television networks pulled the plug on Trump because he was so confused.
Rachel Maddow and MSNBC made the right call by sticking to not live coverage of Trump’s policies. It is a problem for the country that so many other networks have had to be reminded of the dangers of keeping Trump alive Unconfirmed broadcast time.
