House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has attacked Manhattan DA’s Alvin Bragg with lies and conspiracy theories as Trump’s indictments loom.
McCarthy tweeted:
Alvin Bragg has reduced most felonies, including violent crimes, to misdemeanors while also exploiting his office to target President Trump. He has different rules for his political opponents.

House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said he didn’t know which committee McCarthy was talking about because the House doesn’t have jurisdiction over local district attorneys.
Jeffries speculated that McCarthy may be referring to the weaponization of Jim Jordan’s government subcommittee:

Kevin McCarthy is showing complete weakness. McCarthy is trying to blackmail Attorney General Bragg into not indicting Trump.
House Speaker McCarthy has completely sold himself to Trump and he is melting now that his politician father is about to face criminal charges. The Speaker of the House does not have the kind of power that McCarthy is trying to project.
All Kevin McCarthy can do is rant on Twitter and the House about a possible indictment of Trump. Sure, he could get Jim Jordan to hold hearings, and they could even ask DA Bragg to testify, but there’s nothing McCarthy and his Republicans can do to protect Trump.
Indictments are looming, and all that House Speaker McCarthy has sold off could go up in smoke.
