In October 2018, Ashley shared a photo of Joseph, who proposed in Japan, on Instagram, saying, “It was by chance that I was able to see one of the oldest gardens in Kyoto. It will be a new garden,” she captioned. “I never knew you could love someone the way you love them.”
Posting heavily on Instagram is unusual for a couple who have kept their life together largely private since they met in 2012. The two got married in October 2019 and announced that they welcomed their first child, a boy, in April 2022.
“Kota Nikolai Newgarden has arrived,” Joseph shared on social media at the time. “We’re a pretty private family so we don’t share much, but the racing world knows, so Ashley and I wanted to let Kota know that she’s here and safe. Mom too. The little boy is also very energetic 💙”
Ashley added an explanation for Kota’s name as it relates to Japan, the land of her engagement. “Japanese origin means ‘happiness’ and ‘fortune’… Kota, in your short time on the earth side, you gave us just that. Eternal happiness. ❤️💙” she wrote
The actress has long ties to the country, living in Japan from 2013 to 2014 while working at Tokyo Disneyland.she played disney princess such as the bell of beauty and the beastAriel of little mermaid and from Snow White Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs After graduating from university, while working overseas.
They have come a long way since starting out as young drivers and princesses. In May 2023, Ms. Ashley watched her husband compete in her 12th Indy 500 race and finally win.she was seen breaking down in tears shortly afterwards ESPY Winner crossed the finish line.
Meanwhile, Joseph tried to go straight to the bleachers to get inside the fans.
“I always wanted to be in the crowd here in Indianapolis,” said Newgarden. NBCSports at the time. “I’ve seen people climb the fence. I wanted to go through the fence. I wanted to celebrate with everyone. I know what the energy is like on race day, so being in that energy was amazing.” I thought it would be really cool, this was my dream, and if something like this could happen, so would I.”
Ashley captioned a photo of her jubilant win on her Instagram story, “Baby you did it!!”
