Rep. Jamie Ruskin (D-Maryland) asked why the 1/6 Capitol security footage was released only to Tucker Carlson, telling America to smell MAGA propaganda.
Ruskin tweeted:
McCarthy’s giving pro-Putin journalists 40,000 hours of the Jan. 6 tape is a stunning ethical fallout. What security precautions have been taken to ensure this does not become his 2024 riot roadmap, and why is it not available to all media and the general public?MAGA’s It smells like an advertisement is coming.

Senator Ruskin was right. None of this applies. Why did McCarthy decide to give the footage only to Tucker Carlson? How do lawmakers and the American public know that the footage will not be used as a roadmap for future riots?
Future domestic terrorists can find out where the congressional safe room is and where the security cameras are. We gave Tucker Carlson exclusive access to the Capitol footage because we want to.
By giving Tucker Carlson exclusive access to the footage, House Speaker McCarthy put national security at risk.
Kevin McCarthy’s actions were against the 1/6 Committee. The commission paid attention to security during its investigation. McCarthy, Jim Jordan, and other House Republicans were reckless.
Speaker McCarthy is a puppet in the hands of Donald Trump. If McCarthy wanted his propaganda campaign to be credible across the nation, he wouldn’t have handed over the footage to Tucker his Carlson.
The point of this effort is not to convince the public at large that Trump did not seek to overthrow the government, but to get enough Republican primary voters to ignore Trump’s coup and turn him into a 3rd party. It seems that it is to persuade him to nominate for the second time.
Kevin McCarthy may be gearing up for another domestic terrorist attack as he puts Trump’s 2024 needs ahead of the nation.
