Schumer says:
The fact that we got 51 votes gives us great feeling, enthusiasm, solidarity and encouragement. I should add that our caucuses are deeply appreciative of Vice President Harris’ constant schedule juggling as he presides over the 50/50 Senate. she did a great job. she is grateful It’s part of her job. But I think she did a lot of other good things, too. And now she’s got a little more time to do those things.
Second, one of the things I want to do as a leader is reach out to Republicans in this new election climate. There are quite a few Republicans in the Senate and House, but they are not MAGA Republicans. Losing popularity in 2020, 2022 and he lost popularity in the House in 2018. And it’s my intention to reach out to them and say how can we work bipartisanly. Let’s see what happened at 50/50 this summer. Of the six major bills we passed, five were bipartisan. And not all Republicans agreed with us. But most did, enough did.

One way to defeat MAGA in Congress is to isolate it. There are far more non-MAGA members than Trump followers. If Republicans and Democrats can unite on issues that matter, Trump’s fan clubs won’t have the political power they need to do anything.
The strategy is to not give Trump’s MAGA the numbers it needs to succeed. The Senate has demonstrated its ability to pass bipartisan legislation. Partisanship and division are the oxygen of MAGA, and through cooperation we can save American democracy.
