Whenever we have to start a hearing by claiming that “this is not a political stunt,” it’s not a good sign.
Prior to the hearing, House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jerrold Nadler and ranking member of the Security and Enforcement Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity Pramila Jayapal said in a joint statement provided to PoliticusUSA: said to
Judiciary Republicans hold second stunt hearing on border security. Despite the importance of the issue, no consultations were held with the Judiciary Democrats.
Instead of focusing on real solutions to complex issues, Judicial Republicans will never again hear from federal witnesses at hearings, further cementing this hearing as a brazen act of political grandstand. As a result, Democrats who have been to the border regularly for the past few years will not be attending next week’s hearings. Additionally, Justice Democrats will make their own trip to the border next month to hear from local communities and government officials.
Jordan and other House Republicans have tried to claim that Democrats boycotted the hearings, but the truth is that Republicans scheduled hearings when Democrats were unable to attend.

The key was to never let Democrats into the hearings, but to use the hearings pretext to let in Republicans, conspiracy theorists, and anti-immigrant zealots.
Brad Woodhouse of the Congressional Integrity Project described the hearing as follows: Trump. It was so partisan that Democrats on the Judiciary Committee refused to give it legitimacy by attending. Because no, this taxpayer-funded trip was clearly just an excuse and an attack on President Biden and the Democrats, rather than actually fixing the border or the immigration system. ”
The Republican-controlled House no longer exercises oversight of Congress. It presents the MAGA Community Theater Road Show.
Jim Jordan has had a headache as chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and it’s surprising that the House Republican Never Kevin Group wanted an Ohio Representative to be Speaker of the House.
